Leader in Outdoor & Environmental Education and Stewardship

Camp Kawartha is an accredited, not-for-profit organization offering a broad range of year-round programming at some of Canada’s most sustainable facilities.

Branching Out for a Sustainable Future

There are so many issues facing children today, from climate change, to habitat destruction and from pollution to overpopulation. It is easy to become discouraged in the face of what seems like a bleak future. At Camp Kawartha we believe that environmental education is an act of hope. That we can inspire children to become active caretakers of their own communities by showing what effective, sustainable living looks like and by teaching them to appreciate, protect and enhance the living systems that nurture us all

Every child, at every age can engage in simple acts of green. Whether it means creating a pollinator garden or planting a tree – whether it means naturalizing a shoreline or finding ways to become more energy efficient, we all can make our communities more nature rich and our lives more sustainable. At Camp Kawartha, we want to foster the next generation of environmental leaders. Camp Kawartha also recognizes it takes a village to foster stewardship. This is work that we cannot undertake alone.

This is why we are inviting you to join us on our journey as we work towards our future. Camp Kawartha is preparing to undertake a $3.5M capital campaign to support our vision of becoming a provincial leader in the delivery of environmental and outdoor education programming.

Camp Kawartha is an award-winning, not-for-profit charity delivering dynamic, year-round outdoor, environmental and leadership programs to children, youth and adults.   From summer camps, to environmental education for students, from teacher training to workshops on sustainability, Camp Kawartha helps to foster a culture of stewardship and environmental awareness to more than 16,000 campers, students, educators and participants per year.

Since 1921 Camp Kawartha has been connecting children to their environment.  Learning to swim in a lake, experiencing a sky full of stars, examining fresh tracks on a snow-covered trail, or making new friends grounded in common experience is just part of the magic that a week of summer camp, or participation with classmates in a 3-day school visit can offer.

Children from lower-income families have fewer opportunities to attend Camp.  The current economic climate can be challenging for families, and many are just getting by.  While we keep our costs as low as possible, fees are simply out of reach for children from families with low income.

To help make a camp visit possible for dozens of children in need, Camp Kawartha hopes that you will help support our Subsidy/Sponsorship Fund.  It will make a world of difference to a child.
